After almost a decade off the air, Futurama is coming back to a television screen near you. This July will see the premiere of the show’s eleventh season on Hulu, and based on the newly released trailer, it looks like the gang is back with all their delightful oddities intact. It also looks like things that have happened in our world since the show went off the air in 2013, including those long Q-tips used for Covid testing, have made an impact 1,000 years in the future as well.

Here’s the synopsis for the upcoming season:

After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries—including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile, there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.

The upcoming ten episodes (presumably the first half of the twenty-episode order Hulu signed off on back in early 2022) also sees the entire original cast back voicing their respective roles, including John DiMaggio, who voiced Bender, who signed on a bit later than his colleagues Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman. The show’s creators, Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, are also on board as executive producers.

Futurama’s eleventh season premieres on Hulu on July 24, 2023. Here’s a poster to keep you occupied in the meantime:
